School uniforms for vulnerable pupils

Tongaat Hulett recently paid a visit to Mgwede Primary School in the Eastern Cape to launch its Back to School campaign. The campaign is aimed at providing school uniforms to pupils who hail from vulnerable homes in the village of KwaMadiba, one of Tongaat Hulett’s labour sending areas.

A total of 47 pupils were identified by the school’s governing body to benefit from the campaign. The gathering was attended by representatives from the local traditional leadership council, the local municipality, the Department of Education as well as parents.

Tongaat Hulett has previously supported Mgwede Primary School over the years. In 2015, the company partnered with PlayPump International to install a roundabout, which generates clean drinking water while pupils enjoy themselves playing.
