Crumpets Dripping with Syrup

250 ml (1 cup) cake flour
10 ml (2 teaspoons) baking powder
pinch salt
30 ml (2 tablespoons) Huletts White Sugar
1 egg
200 ml (4/5 cup) milk
15 ml (1 tablespoon) butter or margarine,
melted oil for frying
Huletts Syrup (choose the flavour of your choice)

  • measuring cup
  • teaspoon
  • tablespoon
  • sieve
  • wooden spoon
  • mixing bowl
  • frying pan
  • egg lifter

  1. Sieve the flour, baking powder, salt and white sugar together in the mixing bowl
  2. Beat the egg, milk and melted butter or margarine together in the measuring cup. Add to dry ingredients and mix well until lump-free and well mixed
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a frying pan. Using a tablespoon, spoon three spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil in the pan. You can now turn the heat down to medium so that the crumpets do not fry too quickly
  4. When the batter starts to bubble, turn over, using a egg lifter. Fry for 1 minute more on the other side
  5. Remove from pan and stack on a plate
  6. Serve warm with Huletts Syrup
