Economical Fudge

Recipe by Elisia de Beer, winner of the Clover Condensed milk competition

Makes 48 blocks
Ingredients:

1 x 385 g can Clover Condensed Milk
1 can milk (use the above empty can)
6 x 250 ml (1,2 kg) Huletts White Sugar
250 ml (140 g) cake flour
30 ml Huletts Golden Syrup
7,5 ml vinegar
5 ml vanilla essence
Method: 

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients except the vanilla essence in a heavy bottomed pot.
  2. Place on medium to low heat and stir continuously until the sugar had dissolved and the mixture starts to boil.
  3. Boil softly for 25 minutes. Remove from heat and leave for 10 minutes to cool.
  4. Add vanilla essence and beat until smooth.
  5. Pour into two greased 23 x 33 cm square pans.
  6. Leave to cool slightly and mark blocks with a sharp knife. Do not cut through.
  7. Leave to set completely and then cut through.
