Sweet and Spicy Tomato Salsa

Makes ± 300 ml


2 - 3 ripe fresh tomatoes

125 ml (½ cup) coriander leaves

½ onion, peeled and roughly chopped

15 ml (1 T) white vinegar

45 g (2 T) Huletts Golden Syrup

zest and juice of 1 lemon

1 garlic clove, peeled

5 ml (1 t) cumin

1 jalapeno (optional)

salt and black pepper to taste

  1. Place all the ingredients into a food processor and process to desired consistency (fine and smooth or chunky for rustic texture).
  2. Season to taste and serve on toasted crostini or as a side dish with a braai.
