1. The promoter is Tongaat Hulett Limited Reg. No. 1892/000610/06 (in business rescue) (“the Promoter”) and Gorilla Tactical Marketing Specialists (Pty) Ltd t/a Gorilla Creative Media Reg. No. 2016/078944/07 acting as the Agent of the Promoter.
  2. This promotional competition is open from 3 June 2024 and ends at 11:59 pm on 13 June 2024. Any entries received after the closing date will not be considered.
  3. The promotional competition is open to all South African citizens residing in South Africa, in possession of a valid identity document, except any director, member, partner, employee, agent, or consultant of the Promoter, its marketing service providers, or any person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by these entities, including their spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members.
  4. Any participant under the age of 18 years must be fully assisted by his/her guardian, who approves and consents to the participant’s participation in the competition and the participant’s receipt/possession of the prize.
  5. To enter, participants will be required to:

  6. Participants may enter only once.
  7. All winners will need to provide their names, ID numbers, and contact details to sign an acknowledgement of receipt for their prize. 
  8. Winners will be selected by means of a random draw on 14 June 2024. Winners will be contacted within 5 working days of the draw. Winners will be notified via DM, and then telephone where the winner will be required to verify their details.  The Promoter (or their agent) will endeavour to contact the prize winner once every day for 3 consecutive working days after their name is drawn.  If the prize winner cannot be contacted during this period, the prize will be forfeited, and another winner will be selected in accordance with the Rules. The winners will have 5 days from the time they are contacted to provide the needed information.
  9. The Prize is:
    1. One thousand rand (R1000.00) in cash.
  10. The winners will be randomly drawn by the Promoter’s representatives. 
  11. In the event that the prize is not available despite the Promoter’s reasonable endeavours to procure the prize, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal value.
  12. The prize is not transferable.
  13. Any prize not taken up for any reason within two months of notification will be forfeited.
  14. The Promoter reserves the right to name winners publicly and in any other place where the Promoter deems fit. By entering the competition, prize winners agree to the publication of their name by the Promoter.
  15. The Promoter reserves the right to use the images taken of the winner for publicity purposes in any manner they deem fit, without remuneration being made payable to the winner.  However, the winner has the right to object to these images being used by written notification to the Promoter at [email protected] , Att: Legal Department.
  16. Failure to claim the prize or a refusal or inability to comply with the terms and conditions of this competition within 2 months of a Participant being notified that they have been selected as a winner of this competition will disqualify the winner, and a new winner will be drawn in their place at the sole discretion of the Promoter.
  17. Personal Information provided by any participant by entering this competition will be processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (Act No. 4 of 2013) read together with the Tongaat Hulett Privacy Notice ( By entering the competition the participant consents to their personal information being shared with the Tongaat Hulett employees, contractors or agents for the purpose of this competition, for the purpose of sharing future promotional competitions, and used for the purposes contemplated in clause 15 and 16 above.
  18. The Promoter shall not be responsible for any lost, damaged, delayed, incorrect or incomplete entries for any reason whatsoever. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt. The Promoter shall not be responsible for the failure of any technical element relating to this promotion that may result in an entry not being successfully submitted. 
  19. Responsibility is not accepted for entries lost, damaged, or delayed as a result of any network, computer or cell phone hardware or software failure of any kind.  Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt.  
  20. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entry and associated entries if fraud or cheating is suspected, including without limitation, any attempt to use multiple e-mail addresses, profiles, contact details or Meta accounts or other tactics to enter more than the stated limit or through the manipulation of code or otherwise frequently falsifying data. 
  21. No applications from agents, third parties, organised groups, or applications automatically generated by computer will be accepted. No incomplete or corrupted entries will be accepted. Entries will only be accepted if they comply with all entry instructions.  
  22. The Promoter shall have the right to change or terminate the promotional competition immediately and without notice, if deemed necessary in its opinion and if circumstances arise outside of their control.  In the event of such change or termination, all participants agree to waive any rights that they have in respect of this promotional competition and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against the Promoter or its agents. 
  23. Neither the Promoter, its agents, its associated companies, nor any directors, officers, or employees of such shall be liable for any loss, damage or injury, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise arising from any cause whatsoever, which may be suffered by the Participant and Winners. 
  24. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with Meta and the participants acknowledge that they are providing information to the Promoter and its agents only and not to Meta. All participants in this Competition release Meta and any other online platforms from all liabilities and claims arising out of or in connection with this competition and these Rules. 
  25. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with Telkom, MTN, Vodacom, Cell C or any other mobile network and the participants acknowledge that they are providing information to the Promoter and its agents only and not to telephone networks.
  26. All participants in this Competition release Telkom, MTN, Vodacom, Cell C and any other mobile network from all liabilities and claims arising out of or in connection with this competition and these Rules.

  28. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered.
