Ingredients

  • ½ white onion, sliced
  • 15 ml sunflower oil
  • 30 ml Huletts White Sugar
  • ½ loaf of bread
  • 100g fried chips
  • 1 Russian sausage, fried
  • 2 slices cheese
  • 45-60 ml atchar
  • 1 extra large egg, fried

Method

  1. Fry the onion in the oil over a medium heat.
  2. Once it has had time to sweat and change colour, add the sugar and reduce the heat.
  3. Simmer for a further 10 minutes until the onions are sticky and caramelised.
  4. To make the kota, remove the crust from one long side of the bread and hollow out the loaf.
  5. Toast the bread you have removed from the loaf, on all sides, in a hot pan.
  6. Fill the loaf with the fried chips, then the sausage, the onions, the cheese and finally the atchar.
  7. Lastly, top with the fried egg and the toasted bread.
