Savoury Citrus Sauce



1 Onion, finely chopped
1 Garlic Clove, crushed
15 ml (1 T) Olive Oil OR Butter
15 ml (1 T) Flour
15 ml (1 T) Soy Sauce
125 ml ( ½ cup) Huletts SunSweet Brown Sugar
30 ml (2 T) Huletts Golden Syrup

250 ml (1 cup) Chicken Stock OR Vegetable Stock
250 ml (1 cup) Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice



  1. Fry the onion and garlic in oil or butter until soft. Add the flour and stir. Remove from the heat and add all the remaining ingredients. Stir well.
  2. Return to the heat, uncovered, and allow the sauce to simmer for 10–15 minutes until it starts to reduce and thicken.

Serving Suggestions: Serve over poultry such as chicken or duck, or over pork or gammon.
