Sweet & Sour Sauce



125 ml ( ½ cup) Huletts White Sugar
125 ml ( ½ cup) White Wine Vinegar
200 ml Chicken Stock OR Water
10 ml (2 t) Sunflower Oil OR Sesame Oil
10–15 ml (2–3 t) Fresh Grated Ginger
20 ml (4 t) Soy Sauce
20 ml (4 t) Tomato Paste
30 ml (2 T) Cornflour



  1. Heat the white wine vinegar, sugar, chicken stock/water, sunflower/sesame oil, ginger, soy sauce and tomato paste together in a saucepan.
  2. Mix the cornflour with a little water and mix into the sauce.
  3. Stir over a medium heat until thickened.

Serving Suggestions: Add sliced spring onions, if desired, and serve hot. Serve with stir-fries, spring rolls and other Oriental-style dishes.
