Waffles with Nutty Vanilla Syrup

Ingredients

For The Waffles

  • 335ml flour
  • 20ml baking powder
  • 2ml salt
  • 10ml Huletts Castor Sugar
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 125ml butter, melted
  • 435ml milk

For The Syrup

  • 250 ml Huletts Golden Syrup
  • 1 Vanilla Pod or 5 ml Vanilla essence
  • 60 ml Sprinkle nuts

To Serve

  • Ice cream and berries

Method

The Waffles

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together all dry ingredients.
  2. Separate the eggs, add the yolks to the dry ingredient mixture, and place the whites in a small mixing bowl.
  3. Beat whites until moderately stiff; set aside.
  4. Add milk and melted butter to dry the ingredient mixture and blend.
  5. Fold stiff egg whites into the mixture.
  6. Ladle mixture into hot waffle iron and cook until golden and delicious.

For The Syrup

  1. Mix the syrup with the seeds of the vanilla pod by scraping them off or use vanilla essence.
  2. Add the nuts.
  3. Serve the syrup over the hot waffles with ice cream and berries of your choice.

Choc Chip Waffles

Variation:

Add 125 ml of choc chips to the batter for choc chip waffles
