Tongaat Hulett, through its Growing a Sweet Future initiative, continues to champion community development, food security, and youth empowerment. In line with this commitment, we are proud to partner with SA Harvest, a leading food rescue and hunger-relief organisation in South Africa. This partnership brings together Tongaat Hulett’s long standing focus on creating sustainable opportunities with SA Harvest’s mission to end hunger and reduce food waste.Inspired by the spirit of Mandela Day 2025, we came together to not only address the challenges of food insecurity and economic inequality but also to bring hope and dignity to the children who need it most.

Driven by the belief that every child deserves to step into the classroom with dignity, Tongaat Hulett donated hundreds of school shoes to learners in need. This spirit of giving will go beyond Mandela Day to support schools in flood-affected communities in the Western and Eastern Cape.

The official launch of the partnership took place at Kranskloof Primary School in KwaDabeka in KZN. Along with brand-new school shoes, learners received lunchboxes, juice bottles and stationery. Southern Block Farm and SA Harvest donated fresh produce and food parcels to the learners. Volunteers from The Robin Hood Foundation transformed a bare classroom into a colourful library, filling it with books, games and hope.

Our commitment to community upliftment and empowerment continues through Mandela Day and beyond. Thank you to those who helped make this day special for the learners and those who continue to support our #GrowingASweetFuture initiatives all year round.
