Through our partnership with the Makhosikhosi Trust, Tongaat Hulett has been able to support projects that uplift local communities and bring real change to the lives of young learners.
One way we’ve put this partnership into action is through a school uniform programme. After discussions with the Makhosikhosi Trust, Tongaat Hulett was able to donate 100 school uniforms and shoes to learners from four schools in the Makhosikhosi cane catchment area in KZN.
The handover day took place on Friday, 5 September, and was attended by representatives from Tongaat Hulett, Inkosi Bonokwakhe Prince Gumede, members of the Traditional Council, and the Makhosikhosi Trust. It was a wonderful moment to celebrate giving back to the community. The children were happy, proud of their new uniforms and were beaming with excitement.
Makhosikhosi remains a key partner for our Maidstone Mill, helping us reach our milling targets while also supporting social projects that uplift the local community.
